The subject Botany was incorporated as one of the fundamental essential subject in 2016 with honours. From the academic session 2016-2018,the institution got affiliated to utkal university with 16 honours seats wth letter No-5752 dt-11/5/17.From the year 2019,the honours seats was increased to 32 seats in self-financing mode with letter No-3871 dt-24/5/19.Every year the inspection team from the Utkal university come for departmental academic verification. From the time of its inspection the department moves on its path of success to achieve academic excellence. The department is equipped with three faculty members. Our Teachers Are Dedicated, Hardworking And Committed For Quality Teaching and quality development of students.
OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT :
1. To encourage research activities among the students.
2. To enrich academic improvement of the students & teachers.
3. To conduct seminar & workshop for clear understanding of different topics.
4. To arrange study tour& picnic once a year to enhance student activities in different
field.
5. To develop leadership qualities among our students through participating in
N.C.C,N.S.S,Red-Cross & Sports activities.
6. To conduct welcome & farewell ceremonies for mutual co-operation among students &
teachers.
7. To provide well furnished laboratory for use of students.

The department was organized a seminar on dt-25.09.2021 to which eminent resource persons was invited. The topic of the seminar was chosen with the current pandemic situation. Our faculties are also participate in the seminars, conferences organized by different colleges and universities. Welcome ceremony to new comers and farewell to the outgoing students are also organized every year to sensitize mutual co-operation among the students and teachers.
CEREMONIES:
Students of our department observe teachers day on 5th September every year with great enthusiasm to pay respect to their teachers as well as respectable homage to noble soul Dr.S. Radhakrishnan. They also celebrate independence day, Republic day, Ganesh Puja and Saraswati Puja every year.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:
Mrs Abhipsa Panda, HOD of Botany has awarded M.Phil on the topic “ Micropropagation through cotyledonary node of Mucuna gigantea (willd.) DC.” Under the guidance of Dr Durga Prasad Barik, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Ravenshaw University.
Mrs Adyashree Priyadarshini,lecturer in Botany has awarded M.Phil degree on the topic “Floristic enumeration of Medicinal plants in Boula Mines Of Keonjhar District”under the guidance of Dr Pradosh ku. Acharya from Gangadhar Meher Auto. College in the year 2016.
Miss Monalisa Lenka, lecturer in Botany has awarded M.Phil from Centurian University on the topic “Comparative Hematological study between Indian Bull frog and common indian toad’ under the guidance of Dr.Biswakantha Kar.
