BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The English Hons. Department was founded in 2016. The subject was incorporated as one of the fundamental essential subject for every institution and got affiliation to Utkal University, Vanivihar, Odisha, Bhubaneswar with 16 seats in Undergraduate level in the year 2016. The subject became the affiliated Hons. subject. It was the same year the institution had got the privilege of getting affiliation to impart honors teaching in English Literature with 16 seats. From the time of its inception the department moves on its path of success to achieve academic excellence. The department is equipped with three senior experienced faculty members to impart teaching honors in Arts as well as compulsory subjects in Science and Commerce. The department teachers are dedicated, hardworking and committed for serving quality teachings and quality development of students.
Then it shares a complete shape to the college, Raja Madhusudan Dev Degree College of Science & Education, patia, bhubaneswar. the vision of the college is to set up a department to impart quality training in English Languages and Literatures for Students of +3 Science, Commerce and Arts. the mandate of the English Hons. Department is to advance and disseminate instructional, research and extension facilities to the students of English literatures as well as to take appropriate measures for interdisciplinary studies and engage in literary and cultural studies, and to develop critical intercultural understanding of civilizations.
The English hons. department sets benchmarks through its various seminars, soft-skill development courses, and online and off-line teaching process.
Gradually the Institute extended the scope of its goals and to improve the standard of teaching of English; to undertake relevant teaching methodology.

 

  1. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT AS STATED :

    1. To disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instruction.
    2. Facilities in the educating of english literatures in India.
    3. To train students in methods and approaches appropriate to the Indian context.
    4. To provide expertise in literatures to students.
    5. To evolve indigenous ways of teaching literatures.
    6. To make provisions for innovative teaching-learning materials in both print and electronic media.
    7. To take appropriate measures for inter-disciplinary studies.
    8. To develop critical intercultural understanding of the civilizations.
    Programmes are offered through the face to face mode. Courses offered on our various programmes adopt a variety of teaching styles that are intense and at the same time engaging. Courses are offered as seminars, tutorials, presentations and lectures. All programmes follow the Choice Based Credit System.
