The subject Commerce was incorporated as one of the Basic fundamental subject in the college level
and got affiliation to Utkal University, Odisha, Bhubaneswar with 64 pass seats in +3 stages in
the year 2011. It was in the year 2011, Commerce Department came into existence.
From the academic session 2012-13, the institution got affiliation to impart honours teaching in
Botany with 48seats. From the time of its inception the department moves on its path of success to
achieve academic excellence. The department equipped with three experienced faculty members
teaching in honours as well as pass subjects. Our teachers are dedicated, hardworking and
committed for quality teachings and quality development of students.
OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT:
1. To encourage entrepreneurial skills and spirit among students.
2. To encourage students for new start-upand enrich them with management skills.
3. To provide a allround development of students.
4. To enrich academic improvement of the students & teachers.
5. To conduct seminar & workshop for clear understanding of different topics.
6. To arrange Alumni meet once a year to enhance student activities .
7. To develop leadership qualities among our students through participating in N.S.S, Red-Cross,
Sports activities, Annual function and other ceremonies conducted by our college.
8. To conduct welcome & farewell ceremonies for mutual co-operation among students & teachers.

The department organizes seminars at least 2 in a year to which eminent resource persons are invited. The topic of the seminar is usually chosen from the syllabus keeping in view the question pattern of university examinations for the benefit of the students Or from the current scenario to make Students aware of the Environmental changes. Inter-disciplinary faculty members also participate in the seminar. Our faculties also participate in the seminars, workshops, conferences, organized by different colleges and universities.
CEREMONIES:
Students of our department observe teachers day on 5th September every year with great enthusiasm to pay respect to their teachers as well as respectable homage to noble soul Dr.S.Radhakrishnan. They also celebrate independence day, Republic day, Ganesh Puja , Saraswati Puja , Vivekananda jayanti , women's day , constitution Day ,Red cross day, Annual function and Annual Sports every year.
Every year Induction session is organised by Department to make Students aware of the dept., facilities, syllabus, time table, uniform , library facilities, college website and curricular activities to be undertaken. Welcome ceremony to new comers and farewell to the outgoing students are also organized every year to sensitize mutual co-operation among the students and teachers.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES:
Mrs. Malabika Brahma ,Lecturer in commerce has awarded M.Phil degree from Utkal University ,Vanivihar , Bhubaneswar on the topic "Innovation in Banks & Bankassurance" in the year 2011.
“A study on the impact of mandatory provisions on CSR strategies of Indian Companies” published as a chapter in the book ‘Ethics,Social responsibility and Sustainability in Marketing…’ by Springer Nature Singapore Pvt. Ltd. 2019 by Mrs Gargee Banergee.
